As you may know, bacon sandwiches are my favorite comfort food, and the perfect breakfast.
I make my own versions with everything from butter, to bacon, to maple syrup and maple cream, and I’ve also tried to find a bacon flavor that suits my taste buds.
Here are some suggestions that I’ve had success with.1.
Brown Sugar Bacon Sandwich (Makes 10 sandwiches)You could make a bacon sandwich using the bacon you bought from a butcher.
This one has no cheese and no sour cream, but the flavor is delicious.1/4 cup brown sugar, melted1 teaspoon salt1 tablespoon butter, softened2 teaspoons maple syrup, or more to taste2 eggs1/2 cup milk1 tablespoon cream1/8 teaspoon cinnamon1/3 cup flour1/5 teaspoon baking powder1/10 teaspoon baking soda1/12 teaspoon ground cinnamon1 tablespoon vanilla extract1 tablespoon powdered sugarTo make the caramel milk, heat the sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat until it becomes light and fluffy.
Then, add the salt and butter.
Simmer for a minute or two, until the butter melts and the sugar has thickened slightly.
Add the melted butter and continue to cook for a couple minutes, stirring constantly.
Remove from the heat and set aside.3.
Bacon Butter & Honey Sandwich (makes 10 sandwiches, 1-inch thick)This one has bacon, honey and cinnamon on the inside, but you can use any flavor of bacon you like.
I like to use a mix of brown and black.2 tablespoons butter, melted2 teaspoons honey1 cup brown or black sugar, cooled1/1 cup milk2 eggs2 tablespoons cream1 tablespoon cinnamon1 teaspoon vanilla extract4 slices bacon, finely diced1/6 cup honey1 tablespoon cornstarch1/16 teaspoon ground ginger1 teaspoon cinnamon powder1 tablespoon sugarCombine all ingredients except the bacon and honey into a saucepan, stirring frequently, until thickened and slightly caramelized.
Remove the pan from heat and stir in the bacon.
Add honey and salt and stir to combine.5.
Cinnamon-Lemon Bacon SandwichWith just a pinch of salt, cinnamon and lemon juice, you can add a savory twist to this bacon sandwich.
It tastes delicious!1/9 cup brown butter, room temperature1 teaspoon lemon juice1 teaspoon ground cumin1/7 cup milk 1 teaspoon cream1 cup honey3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg2 tablespoons powdered sugarFor the caramel, whisk together the butter, lemon juice and spices in a sauce pan.
Add in the milk and cream.
Continue to cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until it is thickened to the consistency of cream.
Remove and stir into the honey mixture.
Remove with a slotted spoon.6.
Brown Butter & Maple Syrup Bacon SandwichThis is a bacon-flavored sandwich that I love.
This version is one of the easiest recipes.1 tablespoon honey1 teaspoon dried mustard 1 teaspoon ground black pepper1 teaspoon sugarCombined all ingredients, except the honey and mustard.
To make the syrup, whisk the mustard and sugar together in a bowl until it forms a thick syrup.
To serve, sprinkle over the bacon to coat and serve.1 cup butter, cold2 tablespoons sugar1/30 cup brown and dark brown sugar1 teaspoon kosher salt1 teaspoon powdered sugarCombines all ingredients and stir until smooth. Enjoy!
