Thailand will not play for the World Cup.
The Thai Rugby Union (TRU) said on Friday the final would be played in a “friendly atmosphere” for fans in the capital Bangkok.
The match will be played on the same day the semi-finals will be held in a new venue, in a venue that is also a home for fans of Thailand’s national rugby team.
Rugby fans have expressed disappointment with the outcome of the two previous World Cups.
In the first, the defending champions defeated hosts South Africa in a friendly, in the second, the hosts beat hosts Argentina to win the tournament.
Thailand won both games, defeating Argentina in the quarter-finals and South Africa at home in the semi finals.
The tournament will be the first of two in Thailand after the country was granted a visa to play in the 2018 Rugby World Cup in the United Kingdom.
